They tried to then have a BoxxyFest on August 31; claiming Boxxy would be there, but of course she was never coming. From a picture I saw seems like about 3 people showed up. Complete fail!

ReplyDeleteI think the reason so many people are hung up on her is because you almost feel like it was something brimming with potential and possibilities, something that would have been 10x better than Tay Zonday or Rick Astley (the last 2 4chan memes that made it big/were revived) because she actually had talent--and it was brutally, unfairly cut short.
Eyerev can claim all he wants that she was "done anyway with making videos" but you have to seriously wonder, had those guys never hacked her and all her info not been leaked, would she have gotten some serious offers, and after some contemplation ended up making more videos, eventually morphing into something of LisaNova-esque/Fred-esque proportions (except better and not relying on her body, and actually being somewhat witty/intelligent)?
That's my personal opinion, as to why people are so intrigued and cant let it go. It's all about what could have been.

ReplyDeleteI'm 21, this kid is 12, but we feel the exact same way. This is basically exactly how I felt about all this.
I just found out about Boxxy a few hours ago. Watched some of the videos, felt my spirits rise seeing that childish joy let free on the internet without trying to act "cool" or posing. Just being silly and having fun. Then I started clicking links to see what was up with this. After clicking enough links, I was caught up on most of the story, and now I just feel pissed off and sad.
This girl is going to live the rest of her teenage years with this hanging over her head. Instead of being able to enjoy life, and be carefree, she has to deal with fallout from this. The people that exposed her information, and the people that harassed her, need to be beaten. That is completely inexcusable.
I wish there was something I could do to help, or some consolation to give, but the best thing is just to let it die down I guess. I can't fulfill her (alleged) wish of forgetting, because the videos are unforgettable. However, I will not try to find any more information on her, or try to contact her. I'll just appreciate the bit of joy she brought into my life for an unfortunately short period of time.
If Catie reads this, I hope she's doing well, and that this doesn't affect her life too badly. Keep your chin up.

Talk about backing up your threats, I mean stay away from this poor girl, whether you are going to give her flowers, or try to kill her, STAY AWAY. It must be scary as hell hearing some strangers knocking at your door once every so often, and she should not have to make another video, after the threat by the CBCR, regardless of if you think they're threats are valid.
We don't want to pressure this girl to do something that:
a) She doesn't want to do
b) Might put her in danger
Just assume that she is doing fine, and (as stated by others comments above mine,) if you do have some real info on her, keep it to yourself. Don't be as big of an asswipe as her ex who has been leading people to her house.

ReplyDeleteCatie has now returned to the internet, and posts videos as herself, such as in TAATGI. And later in foar pocky and in storytime. It wasn't straight away "the triumphant return", for a time it was sad because we could still see how broken by the unspeakable website and the CBRC she was. That which happened in the past just cannot be totally removed from mind and heart. I love Catie and all that she has done, as Boxxy she showed just how pure and joyous she can be, and truly is the beacon of light and happiness in the world. Now, the light has returned, and it grows in purity and brightness.
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart to think of what happened, especially with July 12th. I know what was said in that short clip, and saw a few seconds snippet, but I want to see no more because just those few seconds and the memory of what happened is just awful.
I rarely get sad, depressed, or angry; but CBRC and other boxxy haters make me feel exactly that.
I think I shall have to go watch foar everywun in order to feel better again.
